Prof Kruger recently visited Bern, Switzerland (7 – 8 March 2018) to present at a workshop on Sperm Morphology Evaluation. In addition to this, he also delivered a presentation at a symposium, on the topic of Repeated Implantation Failure.
Sperm Morphology Evaluation Workshop
The Sperm Morphology Evaluation Workshop, was hosted for 34 embryologists, from allover Switzerland. Sperm Morphology Evaluation investigates sperm abnormalities, by analysing sperm morphology (shape), through the use of a microscope. Switzerland’s embryologists are standardised in using the Tygerberg strict criteria on sperm morphology. The World Health Organisation has recognised the Tygerberg strict criteria as international standard since 1995 and the Tygerberg strict criteria on sperm morphology has been published in the WHO semen manual since 2010. The strict criteria, assists in accurate sperm- and semen analysis, which is a predictor of male fertility. Prof Kruger has assisted in teaching this workshop annually, for the last 10 years.
Repeated Implantation Failure in Assisted Reproduction
Prof Kruger also spoke at an evening symposium hosted for 80 gynaecologists. The topic of Prof Kruger’s talk ‘Repeated Implantation Failure in Assisted Reproduction’, encompassed new methods which could assist in improving chances of pregnancy, in women who suffer from repeated implantation failure.
